Kia ora and we invite you to partner with the He Pataka Hauora Trust in the second Kai in the Bay, Maori & Wild Food Festival to take place in Napier in November 2011.
Kai in the Bay is a one day food festival held for the first time in 2010 at Perfume Point, Ahuriri, and incorporated more than a celebration of the regions bounty – it showcased how Maori and local culinary experts have put a Hawke’s Bay flavour to local produce while promoting positive messages around healthy living, good nutrition, and arts / music within a stunning family friendly environment. It was estimated that 2000 people (mainly families) enjoyed the entertainment, celebrity cook-offs, food demonstrations, industry tributes and healthy living promotions all within a alcohol and tobacco free environment. Kai in the Bay was a total success from the visitors perspective...
The vision of He Pataka Hauora Trust is to support events focussed on raising awareness of public health issues with a focus on the Maori community, and feedback from key stakeholders has been very positive about how Kai in the Bay can be the unique Hawke’s Bay annual event that can communicate positive lifestyle messages, celebrations of food and whanau and positively showcase what our region offers.
We are approaching businesses and organisations to seek a partnership relationship to focus on working with, and promoting Maori businesses, culture and positive lifestyles to our region.
The key opportunity for sponsors is a unique and direct channel to the Hawke’s Bay and wider community and we are confident that this event will provide our partners with a uniquely Maori way of celebrating the region and its people. The festival programme will feature presentations from a line-up of key national and international chefs who will not only showcase local produce but provide tips on cooking that the ‘home chef’ can replicate. Workshop streams will showcase best practices, products and services, and demonstrations from around the globe to New Zealand audiences.
This audience is interested in food, arts, lifestyle and whanau — and while the decision makers will be there, the reality is that our audience crosses all social and demographic groups – New Zealanders love food!
Becoming a key partner of Kai in the Bay will provide you with the following benefits and more:
- Exposure to an interested, relevant and influential audience
- An excellent opportunity to maintain a high profile in valuable target markets
- Networking with key decision makers from government, business and community sectors
- Ability to endorse key lifestyle and health messages
- Allow you to reach a wide audience with your communications
- Promote Maori achievement
As a sponsor and /or exhibitor at the festival, (dependent on level of support) the benefits to your organisation may include:
- Acknowledgement of your support leading up to and following the event on our website
- Your company logo and some promotional information will appear on all event publicity
- Branding: on festival materials, trade display, presentation opportunities
- An opportunity to educate, promote your services and demonstrate your commitment to supporting the community
We understand that in many cases each partner chooses to sponsor an event for differing reasons. This may be because they have a message to communicate, a product to showcase or just genuinely want to support an events kaupapa. You know your business directions and priorities better than we do and the drivers for the wider community from a vibrant and healthy Hawke’s Bay. See below for just some options available to you.

In addition, there are opportunities around event naming rights available and we are very open to exploring personalised packages with partners.
All sponsorship packages are also open to a mix of cash and services as may be appropriate to the partner.
As an event with a clear goal of promoting the best that the region has to offer along with positive health and lifestyle messages, we are very aware that the partners we work with must share this vision. We are entering into discussions with the Councils, Health Providers and various food manufacturers. We are confident that Kai in the Bay will receive strong support from these partners as they share our vision for a healthy region.
The Trust and its event manager GROW would love the opportunity to discuss how you can be part of Kai in the Bay 2011. From there we can develop a package that will result in great outcomes for all involved and a wonderful event for our region.
